What type of attorney do i need in louisiana to get my name off a house loan in tennessee?

Benny
I had a horrible husband that I had to get away from. My good credit bought the house. He lives in the house and has since I left. I know he wont refinance the house on his own so I need another way? I don't even live in the house or the same state.I haven't lived in the house for a few years. He remarried a few months after I left. Also, Do I have to get an attorney in the same state as said house or would I be able to get attorney in Louisiana? I hope someone can help with info. Thank you

Wow. A good one.Just make sure your attorney is licensed in the state that the house is in.A good attorney will be able to force him to buy you out (giving you your 1/2 of todays value of the house), as long as you had been paying on the house as well or if you were married to him and I presume divorced. As far as your good credit enabled you to get the house? Don't think that alone is good enough.Your name on the house is the gold. I would say you get a 50-50 splitfor the value of the house. Your attorney can force the issue and will get it appraised for you through a court order if necessary. If you divorced him, then the house is considered assets, which you are entitled to split 50-50.Don't fret. Attornies know exactly what to do. You can pay the attorney after you get the money from the house. It's called payment on 'contingency'.Good for you. Don't let the scumbag get away with living in what is your house too. You are entitled to be compensated for certain. If you had put your personal $$$ for downpayment into it, then make sure your attorney gets that back for you as well.

Wow, you're in a mess. I don't think you can just remove your name from a loan. If it were that easy we wouldn't have so many forclosures.
