My mother is shopping for a refinance on her house?

I have heard that you lose points on your credit score each time you apply for a loan. Loan applications ask for the SS# before they even give you interest rates, points, etc. Is this true about the credit score points?

Yes, it is to the tune of about 10-15 points per credit check. It makes you look like your shopping for a lot of credit and thus lowers your total score. The only way around it is to know your score and call around with the score, and get quotes based on that. Any reputable place will do that for you.
