I filed chapter 7 in 2002can i refinance my house after a bankruptcy?
PalmaIf you have re-established your credit since then, more than likely. Lending institutions are willing to take the chance, knowing that you cannot file chapter 7 again for at least eight years*.*Here is a thorough FAQ regarding chapter 7: http://www.pennlawyer.com/ch7faq.htm#ref…
CorinneIt depends on the bank if they want to take the chance on you.
Guillermoyes and you can have it done in the conforming markets as well as FHA
JadeYes, you can refinance after a bankruptcy is over 2 years old as long as it has been discharged already. There are, however, other factors in that though, such as, have you been able to re-establish credit to show that you are now credit worthy, or have you continued to show a history of slow payment. Also, your credit score will matter. If it is lower than a 500, you may not be able to get financed anywhere.
