How can a vendor report you on something after you paid them off?
LashaunI had a medical bill I paid in full in December. When I refinanced my house this month, I found out they reported me to the credit bureau in January. How can they do that when I didnt owe them anymore money?
AugustineThe first poster is correct as far as he goes.As long as the information is correct, it will still appear on your credit even if it's paid until it reaches the time line for reporting derogatory accounts which is 7-years from the date of first delinquency which works out to 7-years and 180-days.
CarleenNegative reports can last for 7-10 years, as in the case of a collection or bk. If you were only overdue, then that would last only for a month or so. In addition, you might have on your report that you are only being reported for paying and on time.
Juliohow long did it take you to pay them? paying late is also reported, not just not paying
ArdellaMedical bills are not supposed to show on your credit report unless they end up with a collection agency, so obviously these bills were delinquent. Unfortunately you fell into a trap alot of people have fallen into. Once you off a delinquent they must only show it as "paid" but all the negative items like late payments and charge offs are still there. This is why you need to work out pay to delete agreements with collection agencies. Right now your only 2 options are to dispute the listing with the credit bureaus and hope it gets removed, and/or you can send a letter to the collection agency politely asking them to remove the listing.
EdgardoIf the bill was at any point past due they can report this. If the bill was never past due then you should file a dispute with the credit bureau
IselaWas it something negative? It might have been just updated information stating that you paid it in full. If the information reported is incorrect (i.e. status shows you still owe a balance) then you need to dispute the information with the credit bureaus. They will validate the information and it will be updated or removed as necessary.
