Does an appraiser get paid even if you do not get the house or if you do not refinance?

Yes appraisers get paid even it you do not get the house or you cant refi. The appraiser did his job and delivered the report. Mtg companies sometimes try to get the appraiser to take their fee out of closing. This is illegal per federal law and state law. An appraiser can not accept a appraisal order contingent open a loan closing. I only accept assignment that are paid at time of inspection. Would you go to work and not get paid?

If you used their services, you have to pay. It doesn’t matter what you did as a result of those services, you still took advantage of them.
