Best preparation for appraisal on a condo for refinancing purposes?
BelenAs part of a refinance on my condo, the bank is sending an appraiser out. They would like to do it ASAP but my place is in such disarray (can you say... teenager in the house?!), it's going to take me forever to get it minorly presentable. Some people say clutter doesn't matter, some say it does. How much cleaning up do I need to do, considering I have a limited window of time? THANKS!
FosterThey need to measure the area with their rolling ruler, so they need to get to the floor in each room. They are only looking at the size and condition of the actual condo, they don't care about cleanliness.
AleaseThe clutter doesn't really matter to the appraiser, but a neat appearance gives a better impression. Sounds like a good time for a yard sale (if the Association will allow it), or perhaps charitable donation of household goods. Most can use the tax write-off.
